SNES9EXPRESS Beta
A few things to keep in mind
- This is a beta version, it just might garble your existing snes9express settings (if you already use snes9express). If that's a concern to you, back up your ~/.s9x directory
- This version should work with both GTK 1.2 and 2.0
- This version doesn't require/use gnome
- There are probably still bugs, here, there, and everywhere
- I have never been able to get joysticks working since the 2.4 kernel came out, and have no idea if that part works at all.

New stuff
- Snes9express has often received pleasant reviews for its SNES-console-like appearance... which I have removed, permanently. ;)
- Instead, there is skin support, and snes9express comes with two skins
- Skin support requires g++ 2.96 or 3.x
- Skin support requires libpng >= 1.0.6, headers and all. (png.h)
- Configure with --disable-skins if you want to ...disable skins.
- I've switched the build scripts to autoconf/automake, and that's all an entanglement of macros and black-magic to me, ...so let me know if that causes any trouble.
