Thief’s Den for Doom 3

January 21st, 2008 by Crusader

Broken Glass Studios has released Thief’s Den, a short alpha demo of The Dark Mod for Doom 3, which was inspired by the Thief series of PC games:

Thief’s Den is just a few rooms but it is a complete, fully playable mission, and includes a good selection of the main Dark Mod features. Keep in mind that The Dark Mod is still a work in progress and this is reflected in the demo. Voices are temporary placeholders, for example, and AI behaviour is not yet fully developed. You will certainly find bugs and glitches but we hope that doesn’t spoil your enjoyment too much.

The team has posted installation instructions for Linux users at their wiki; as the Dark Mod is primarily a toolset for users to create their own stealth missions, you can also start making maps with the Thief’s Den assets and their fork of GtkRadiant level editor, DarkRadiant, which also has wiki-hosted documentation (you’ll at least need to read the compilation guide).
