What are you playing?

December 5th, 2007 by Crusader

What have you, our readers, been playing on Linux of late? Commercial games, indie games, open source games, titles, genres… let us know!

As for myself, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars has been taking up most of my time

I’ve pretty much been playing handheld consoles. PSP generally, I also have a DS which hasn’t seen much use this year.
Linux games? I ran Urban Terror this spring and fired up lgeneral once last month.

Personally I much prefer the ability to use a handheld to play whereever I like and not be tied to a chair in front of a screen.

    Most played:

    AstroMenace
    Darwinia
    Alien Arena

  8. dabeowulf Says:

    - Unreal Tournament 2004 ( mods, mostly http://deathball.net )
    - http://www.thieveryut.com for the original Unreal Tournament
    - Tried Tremulous, didn’t like it (v 1.1.0 i.e. I’d call it unbalanced)
    - Various stuff through Wine ( Operation Flashpoint, The UnReal World, Slaves to Armok II : Dwarf Fortress, Max Payne )
    - Few things in DOSBox
    - Mafia a.k.a. Werewolf in IRC http://www.phpbots.org/modinfo.php?mod=17
    =)

I remember you saying on your podcast that you tweaked up your copy of quake wars to be playable on an older machine I would be really gratefull if you could post what you did because quake wars isnt really playable for me :(

And as much as I like the new commercial FPS games I find that rather than waiting a few minutes for them to load and connect I’d rather just jump into a game of Quake3.

  16. code_404 Says:

ETQW has been the main thing I’ve been playing the past few weeks (in fact I’ve been playing it with Crusader heh).
Although I’ll admit I alternate between playing it and cursing the day the designers were born since it has some annoying “features” but I keep playing it none the less.

Inbetween I’ve mostly been fiddling with various Oblivion Mods trying to figure out what to use for my next play through.
I also plan on getting back to fallout 2 and finally finishing it in the next week or two. I tend to get about a 1/3rd of the way through before getting distracted by another game but I am determined to see it through this time!
