If they would put it on a CD, and maybe include the rest of the game at the same time, I would rush out and buy a copy.

What exactly would be the advantage of an additional CD over the 18MB download we have now?
October 19th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
They would have had to delay the Windows release to make the Linux install ready for retail distribution. As it is, the install is trivially easy with the Winders CD and the downloaded installer. Stop yer complainin and go support the people that are supporting us and our preferred platform!

If i buy the windows version through steam on top of wine. When the native Linux client comes out will i be able to use it? iam pretty sure i can get access to the files under the steam directory, but probably not the cd key? arhh its $50 us on steam and about the equivilent of $85 us in my country. Anybody know if i can get the cd key from my steam purchase?

Yeah, you’ll be to install the Linux binaries on the Steam version – you get a cdkey to make your ETQW profile/account when you buy it.

Any news when ETQW will be available from Tux Games? Their site still lists it as “Coming Soon, 27/Feb/2007, unconfirmed”.
October 20th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
It doesn’t get any easier than this.
1. download client (ETQW-client-1.1.r8.x86.run)
2. insert retail DVD
3. chmod 0755 ./ETQW-client-1.1.r8.x86.run
4. ./ETQW-client-1.1.r8.x86.run
Copying files from DVD takes a few minutes.
If you don’t have the DVD you can skip that part and, I guess, manually copy in the pk4 and mega files.

Now I get to drop coin. I bought the game from some NC shop called nulime.com. Seems to be 40 bucks, so that’s nice. tuxgames hasn’t updated their site, so sorry. Catch ya next round.
