OpenArena 2v2 Tournament

A reader pointed out the Rainbow 2on2Cup, a team deathmatch tournament for OpenArena, an open source first-person shooter which utilizes the GPL’ed Quake III: Arenaengine, effectively replacing the original copyrighted assets. Here areadditional details:

The tournament will host a maximum number of 32 teams, with 2 players perteam. A grand total of 64 players is allowed and anyone who wishes, may participatein the tournament completely free of charge.

The base for the tournament is a ladder system with a group play withoutseeds. This will be divided in to several groups (depending on number ofplayers) and players play for points where the team with most points after 5maps from each group, move on to round two which is a knockout stage. Duringknockout stage a number of 3 maps will be played and best of 3 moves on..

An estimated time for the tournament to run is 10 days, starting on September28th at 21:00 GMT+0 with it’s quarter, semi and finals on SundayOctober 7thbeing played at 18:00 GMT+0 where a winning team will be crowned.
