Creative Labs has released a Linuxbinary driver for their X-Fiseries of sound cards. Strangely, it’s only for the x86_64 architecture atpresent:
- 64-bit support only
- X-Fi Elite Pro external drive not supported yet
- X-Fi Fatal1ty and X-Fi Platinum internal drive not supported yet
- Playback no sound after multiple install/uninstall repetitions
- Incompatibility with GCC version 4

Have to wonder if the reason they released 64-bit only is so they are less likely to receive bad interoperability reports?
I’ve never used 64-bit, and I realize you need 32-bit compatibility in userspace (libraries) on 64-bit installs to be able to run 32-bit programs – but am I the only person wondering if these drivers even work for 32-bit progs (when used on 64-bit installation)?
