I continue to be disappointed that folks on the internet treat any positivething we say about one platform as some sort of critique of another platform. We’re a multi-platform company folks please come to grips with that. We likethe PC. We like the 360. We like the PS3. We like the Macintosh. We likeLinux. We will deliver UT3 for all of these platforms and it will rock onevery one.[...]In fact the cool thing about our engine is that when you make content for oneplatform it can run on all of them. If history is any indication, the vastmajority of UT3 content won’t even come from Epic – it will come from somevery brilliant end users with lots of cool and innovative ideas.

The coolest thing about what Mark is stating here, is that if you make a level in Linux for UT3, you can also play it on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, etc. From what I know this will be a first. Usually the Console versions are so different from the computer versions that they can’t run the mods that are a rather huge part of the game experience! By the way I do have a problem with the way people use the term “PC”. I think that term should be shot down unless it IS meant to be cross platform, ’cause technically all computers talked about here are Personal Computers, not just ones running Windows.

I’m glad to hear somebody from Epic finally come out and say that there will definitely be a Linux version of UT3.
For a while, there, I was getting worried, because there was a lot of “we’d like to do a Linux version”, and “we intend to do a Linux version, but it sounded very noncommittal.
I’m looking forward to shooting people in the face with rockets again.
