May be due to the network layers. I like using proprietary but free of charge windows application under wine. I am reporting bugs to Wine HQ. Google Talk is not yet supported. I try also Windows game demos under Wine but don't buy these games as I prefer spending my money on Linux softwares I don’t know why the Google Talk software does not work under Wine.
