June 18th, 2007 by CrusaderEpiphany is a multiplatform, GPL’ed clone of the game Boulderdash. It now utilizes the Simple DirectMedia Layer; the player must collect all valuable minerals scattered in levels, while avoiding being hit by a falling boulder or a bomb. Are they *completely* unaware that an application called “Epiphany” already exists? Not only that, but it’s installed on nearly every GNOME desktop in existence? This would be like me naming my new game “Notepad”.

I’m sorry, I think that maybe the Gnome folks where unaware of this project when they named the browser: [http://live.gnome.org/Epiphany/ProjectFAQ#head-ef63aaf004ffda68e3f69101a02a86b2fa2e48f4]
Epiphany-game first version was released almost a year before Epiphany-browser; you can check the freshmeat pages for registration info, if you like: [http://freshmeat.net/search/?q=epiphany]

Listing on freshmeat rarely concide whit project creation. A lot of project arent listed there and project are often added later on when publicity is need.

Epiphany the game did have the name before the browser. I recall during the split from Galeon, when they were looking for the name, that people had stated that there already was a game called Epiphany. That is why in Debian’s package repository that the browser is named epiphany-browser and the game is called epiphany.
