Java RPG Project
June 6th, 2007 by CrusaderWe received the following notice:
A new open source RPG framework project with OpenGL display system written in Java is starting out. The framework’s goal is to provide a basis for complete classic style RPGs. It plans to provide OpenGL display – with help of the JMonkeyEngine – in the way old games like Wizardry 7 and Eye Of The Beholder did and to incorporate a living world with dense AI and less but present scripting. It is in pre-alpha/planing state. The current lead developer opened a blog for discussing his ideas. Visit http://jcrpg.blogspot.com to have a broader view on the concept.

There are at least twice as many rpg development libraries as there are actual complete rpgs.

The engine is unique in the plans for strong AI. The framework is to provide selfcontained adventuring without scripted storyline. So it is not just a framework to build with, but an engine that will self construct, like a rogue game but more complex.
