Is the focus of this news item Syndicate in general or the release “today” of freesynd. The last release of Freesynd was 2007-04-24.

I downloaded the zip and built the source and it worked except for :-

SDL_Mixer error: Module format not recognized
Message: Failed loading music from file

I got sound but no music so I guess the problem is with mp3 playback.

Freesynd is GPL but the zip includes the Syndicate data files.
