Personally, I find this to be very interesting news. Could this finally mean nVidia will not be the only choice for gaming under Linux? Not that I dislike nVidia, but a bit of competition is always good. :) Once these drivers are out, I might finally be able to condsider getting an ATI for my next rig. Now that would be a real benefit for Linux gamers.

All we need now are some comparable open-source drivers. One can only hope!

I despise people who mutilate a noun such as "architect" and use it as a verb.

XFree86 ATI Radeon drivers...good, but not enough for some.
X.ORG ATI Radeon drivers...buggy for old ATI adaptors with PCI bridge.
ATI FireGL Radeon drivers...correct polygon rendering on PCI Radeon adaptors, but still having texture problems.
DirectFB Radeon drivers...verry good, and progressing well.

but wait!

We forgot the true Commercial Offer from GEICO^H^H^H^H^H Xi Graphics' AcceleratedX!
For only USD 120, you get full support and excellent multi-head, all with accelerated openGL that is better than provided by DRI and the closed ATI FireGL!
