I enjoy gaming on windows but a lot of the time I am confused why people port such old games that did not even rate that well. I appreciate the work that LGP do and am a happy owner of coldwar and hopefully soon X3 but why games like this it came out in 1998 and only got an average review.

I prob dont am wrong but I feel that effort would be best spent porting old classics such as Civ2 or on more modern games. Its just that I cant bring my self to spend £25 on a game I could get from the bargin bin for windows for 99p.

Sorry to rant

I tried the demo & enjoyed playing it. I reminded me of Majesty. I'll end up buying this one down the road. (I think my first comment got eaten up when the other post had the multiple comments removed).

I'm glad to see this game, and I'm buying it, having played with the demo a bit. (The demo doesn't seem to throw directions or anything up on the screen for me, oddly enough, but it's not too hard to figure out what to do). It'll make a nice change from Majesty.

It was delayed a while, though, and it was just a smidgen old when it started. I got quite a chuckle out of the fact that the first review I got when I went looking for information on the game was a review of the Mac port. A quote from that review: "the graphics appear to be about three years out of date". That review was written in 1998. :-)

Of course, I also play Tetris, which dates to '85, and a computerized version of various solitaires, which goes back many, many more years. I still suspect that this release may mark the record for the longest commercial lifetime of a game based on a single codebase.

I only hope that competition from DosBox won't prove to be a concern.

That being said, it's a strategy game with low CPU requirements that should work on most machines that are running Linux these days. I've been pretty pleased with LGP's port quality on Majesty. Strategy games tend to age pretty well.

Since I just discovered Overgod (the successor to Lacewing and mercifully a bit easier) and have this coming out, I should be well-supplied with entertainment for a while. :-)
