Free Ryzom Campaign

December 1st, 2006 by TimeDoctor

In a strange twist on charity, “The Free Ryzom Project” has set up a shop in order to purchase the bankrupt MMORPG Ryzom, open source it, and further maintain it. So much so that we’ve gotten multiple submissions regarding it. However, I must mention that their stated goal of purchasing the game comes with no guarantee that they will work on, or support, a Linux client. So, keep that in mind when you read through their site, even though it would indeed be great to have another massive available for Linux.

Who cares what “they” do. If this thing becomes open source, we can do the Linux port ourselves.

There’s already talk of a port on the Ryzom.org boards. :-)

NeL (http://www.nevrax.org) compiles on Linux already, and Ryzom was built to be cross platform.
