The fun thing about slashem is there are many patches to tweak the behaviour and such of the game. So if you don't really care about patches "apt-get install slashem" is fine, but to properly install it from the source while applying a dozen patches... That becomes a bit harder and more complicated.

Why not just provide a separate install for the gui version? It seems like there are way too many changes to expect someone to do. Maybe I am just ignorant of what's involved, but does it have to be this complicated? I was seriously not expecting anything more than ./configure && make && make install.

Yeah, I know. Typing "apt-get install slashem" was almost too hard for me too. Why couldn't they just make a big button on the screen that said "click here to install slashem!"????
