PITA, NV chose to use a 7x.xx version series that has known defect in render accel (not working stable). Makes a person wonder if it was done intentionally (seriously) to force h/w upgrade, because this 'unsupported feature' works %100 stable in previous 6x.xx driver (tested on both nv15 and even gfFX), on not just Linux but FreeBSD also!

@ NVidia: MOO right back at ya!

I build unofficial Xandros drivers, and I need the Device ID's for the 8800 GS and 8800 GT cards.. It seems the info isn't in the 9742 documentation for some reason, but it is claimed they are supported with the driver...

Anyone have that info handy?

According the supported hardware list for 9626 the NV28 cards are at least there.

The legacy drivers isn't that great, missing a bit features and bugfixes from the 8xxx line.

Had been better if there been a open source version of thise driver...

On any nVidia card in the NV2x series, OpenGL causes segfaults with that driver. There's no known workaround. 9626 works, though.

I have a machine with a NV28 based card and only when I downgraded did it work correctly again. I hope it'll be fixed soon...

Check it you might be affected via lspci.
