You guys are correct that basicly whatever works on Crossover works on Wine aswell, so why spend money on Crossover? They pay quite a number of Wine developers to work on big parts of Wine. For a big part Wine has become what it is today due to their help. (For a part due to all the work they did in the past for companies like Corel, Lindows, Google, ..)

The progress in gaming support is for a big part thanks to the community but since lets say a year Codeweavers also hired people to work on this area.

By supporting Crossover you get a supported version of Wine and you also sponsor the Wine project, so that it gets better and better. Whereas in case of Transgaming you are basicly throwing your money away.

Would be great if the Linuxgames crew could do a comparison between Crossover and Cedega running WoW to give us some insight to how these two technologies stack against eachother.

If anyone is wanting to try those games, they should see if wine already meets their needs. :)

With the Linux build your mileage will vary depending on your setup. I've had a very good experience with my Ubuntu/Nvidia 6800/SBLive rig. CS:S runs at a good FPS and I've been able to play online games with little difficulty. World of Warcraft runs fantastic. I've been able to play marathon sessions of WoW and have not had a crash. Good job CodeWeavers!
