ReactOS 0.3.0
September 22nd, 2006 by MarvThis occured some time back but a new release of ReactOS has been brought forward. This alpha release of this independant implementation of the win32 API operating system has been in development for some time and offers original hardware driver compatibility and application support without using MicroSoft Windows directly. Linux Users can give this a try under VMware or Qemu

Hah! I beat you to it! Har!
I posted this old news anonymously, without Anonymous, and it gets posted no less than even hinting with the word “alpha” in the paragraph! Too bad my submittion was butchered out of context of what was posted in the article.
So, has anyone tried ReactOS yet? Despite its quality being rumoured as less than casual use, I find it to be stable. It’s one outstanding use is to partake in the portage at Icculus, such as any needed after-installation data being needed from a skippy Win32 package to be used on another partition housing an active Linux or *BSD. It’s somewhat as useful as DOSemu and DOSbox, but in the form of independance as FreeDOS.
I think it’s stable, outside of a VM and inside a VM under Linux. Enjoy!
Sincerily,
The Alpha Troll

The reactos-description didnt read too interesting to me, but the images now make it easy enough to give reactos a try.
The guys did a really nice work.
OTOH i was asking myself what useful stuff can be done with reactos at this state, so thanks for your post.
