First reaction:
Wow that was faster then I expected.

Then I find:
# Users with X Server X.org 7.1 can not play any video using XV. The ATI AVIVO Video adaptor is not present. Further details and the workaround can be found in topic number 737-22852

Not only does it not link to "topic number..." but a search yelds.
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge
Knowledge Base
Searched For: topic number 737-22852

      No Results Were Found.

So I'm thinking:
Oh goody, I have to use the 32 bit version of linux to play games AND I get to NOT be able to watch video again.

Then I find someone who found topic number 737-22852 and here is the "workaround".

ATI Engineering has been advised of this issue and is investigating. Any updates will be published when they become available.

And in the end it turns out:
No Xgl on x86_64 and no XV.
hmmm sounds like, for me any way, it isn't anything close to being a driver.

For the dreaded API-entrypoint error on R2x0 chips:

Seems to be equivalent to the 'copy old libGL' trick. Well, at least it's known, so we might see a regular fix soon. :^)
