Internet is international. Most country calls football “football”. No need to argue more.

And the hint from the FAQ does not work. Soundcard is not busy and so on… Seems this software needs some more maintenance for Linux. (Tried on 32-bit Debian Testing, on AMD64, 2GB RAM, nVidia 7800GTX)

Uh, the archive contains even a file called bp2k6-startscript.gz which is not gzipped, but a simple .tar file. Anyhow, still trying to get it to run.

The installer script sucks totally for this game. It is really bad, but I am trying to install it manually now. Let’s see if it works.

Hi! Here speaks one of the developers.
“those germans even cant speak right deutsch”: Aha, wie kommst Du denn darauf? Deine Rechtschreibung ist auch etwas schlampig. Es sollte heißen: “Those Germans even can’t speak right Deutsch” :-D
Of course I know that most people call it football. But everybody understands what soccer means, and the title “Slam Soccer” sounds better.
Idea: It’s a open source game. Find a new title with the word “football” in it, and release it. You may do that, it’s open source. I’m really looking forward to it :)

Some idiot please notice the shape of the ball in american football.

That said, quit being arrogant dicks who can’t accept we have a different dialect. I see no reason that our culture has to drop what it’s doing just because “everyone else is doing it”.

A very large number of people who speak English as their first language use the term soccer, rather than football. The term soccer was coined by an Englishman, not an American.

There are a great number of games that go by the name football in English, including: Rugby football (Rugby union and Rugby league), American football, Australian rules football, Gaelic football, and Canadian football. Then there is, of course, Association football (Soccer). Soccer is the unambiguous way to refer to it in the English lanuage. Get over it.
