First, in ackwardsb order:
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO FIND A LIBGL WRAPPER, THAT CONVERTS LIBGL FUNCTION CALLS TO AALIB RENDERING?

Second, Why are system requirements in the Pentium 4 and RAM>64MB range, and the graphics are only Year 1999 quality with more detailed textures with some extra particle generators? The 3Dfx demonstration disc (available with a retail purchase of a doodoo Voodoo3) contained all kinds of advanced things that non-3Dfx purchases were spurned from any such quality. And the 3Dfx was just good gameplay supported with decent graphics that anything *could* render.

Thanks in advance.

So there is a demo version, which will only play online ( no single player campaign ), and on demo servers. But there are only two servers online, and those appear to be full version only.

When your target audience is that small, why shoot yourself in the foot with such restrictive practices?

played it..not great. The demo anyway. The finished product might be better. Seriously needed a tutorial among other things.

There is a manual for the public test version.
http://tbgsoftware.com/PublicTestManual.pdf

Controls aren't as good as they should be.

If you played on version 0.9.91 or earlier then I'd be inclined to agree as they had a tendancy to get stuck. If you played on a more recent version, then remember that these vehicles are heavy and take down to turn, accelerate, etc.

Feedback on attack is less than stellar. I couldn't tell if I was damaging someone or just tickling them.

You can tell whether you are damaging an opponent in a number of ways. The flash of sparks for a penetrating hit is different (and more intense) than a ricochet. Smoke is a good sign. Exploding ordnance is better :-) If you blow a front wheel out on a Paladin, it won't steer properly any more.

This is a game where hitting the right part is key - you can bounce 120mm shells off a Thor's turret all day. Get round the side and smash an AP round in the middle of the side and watch the whole thing blow out. Subsystems range from engine, ammo, armour, tracks, wheels, gunner and driver. Knowing where they are in each vehicle is very important for a quick kill.

There are diagrams of the internal systems on the Drop Team website.

Cheers,
Toby Haynes

Bought it during the public test, so far I've been loving it.

If you like tactical challenges and realistic heavy-vehicle physics, this is for you.

The slugginess of main tanks is balanced by their firepower, the swiftness of some light vehicles and their decent firepower (through guided missiles) is balanced by their weak armor etc.

You have mines, sensors, jammers, etc. Just do not expect a fast paced game like Tribes, more like M1 Tank Platoon.
