Torque Programming Guide

April 23rd, 2006 by Crusader

GarageGames has releasedThe Game Programmer’s Guideto Torque, which includes examples and documentation for the Torque Game Engine, which has grown out of the engine utilized in Tribes 2.

One note: the engineitself runs on Linux, and the product page for the book mentions Linux, butthere’s no mention of Linux demos on the included CD, so you may have to dosome extra work to get the examples running on your platform of choice.

the Engine Demo in the link is for the Torque 1.3 release. There has been a community effort to iron out the last bugs concerning the Linux release, and GarageGames are now quality testing the linux code. Many improvements have been made, so it might be a good idea to have a look at the windows version, deciding if it’s functionally all right for you, and when you buy the license, do a make from CVS to have the latest Linux version
