LGP’s Next Game – X2: The Threat
September 12th, 2005 by CrusaderLinux Game Publishing’s contest to guess the title of their next game has now concluded, and a reader was able to determine the answer from the final image:
Now that the image over at the LGP Game Competition is a bit more clear, I was able to find a match at GameSpy. The radar indicator matches the one found in screenshots of X2: The Threat.

This is most likely the game that LGP is promising to announce soon. We love you, LGP!
X2: The Threat is a space sim developed by Egosoft; additional screenshots can be found here.

Here’s the tagline: “So much potential – but oh, so many bugs.”

Will Ballistics and Bandits: Phoenix Rising ever see the light of day? LGP announced those two ports ages ago.

I’m looking forward to see Disciples too and the LGP site still lists that one as “initial porting work in progress ” or something…
I played and liked that game while I was still dual booting win32, and that was 1&1/2 year ago, guys ;) (and btw I got it free with a games magazine for an equivalent of $10…but wtf, port it & I’ll buy it for $45, it’s a good one. long live linux! :))

So the image was scrambled into a block puzzle too? That wasn’t disclosed in the contest announcement.

I like it. Too bad they don’t have the *exact* same ships.
