Well, 8.12 drivers worked quite well for long time, compared to previous drivers.
8.14 was disaster for me, about 30% of normal frame rate.
8.16 works well, visualization is better and response in ut2004 (meaning tourn around and kill fast) is much better.

thanx ati.

(the only thing in ut2004 not as good as in windows directX is character shadows.. is that weakness of opengl, or somebody was just lazy?)

... that ATI provides the gfx-hardware for all SGI visualization-systems (for several years now). Those things can be equipted with upto 16 render-pipes. All this runs OpenGL exclusively. So please no more "ATI is only about DirectX and shows no commitment for OpenGL"-gibberish.

Best regards...

The ATi hardware still seems very DirectX specific to me.
How on earth are they going to make belivable Linux drivers with DirectX-oriented hardware?
Nah, I'll keep to nVidia for the time being, but if the improvements keep coming I might consider a changeover. Their hardware seems ahead of nVidia now!
