Warzone 2100 0.1

Denis Dupeyron sent in the following concerning the Warzone 2100ReDev project:

Warzone2100 was an innovative 3D real-time strategy game back in 1999, and mostwill agree it didn’t enjoy the commercial success it should have had. Thegame’s sources were liberated in december 2004, and the Warzone 2100 ReDevproject was formed.

This version is still experimental, but fully functional. As far as weknow,it doesn’t even crash that much. We have stripped the original code ofanything proprietary or Windows related, and replaced with SDL, SDL-net, andopenal. We have made very few game modifications (interface, mostly) as ourgoal right now is to release a stable cross-platform version.

At this time, it works very well in Windows and x86 GNU/Linux. We played anetwork game between a Windows and a Linux machine last night, and exceptfor the fact that I lost, there was no issue. Campaign-mode, single-playerskirmish (with computer AIs) and network games (also with computer AIs) workgreat.

    Finally!!! It has arrived on linux.
    I have kept the box, patiently waiting all those years. The best rts of his time is here for me to fight Nexus again.

    Notably, the original game wasn’t exactly crash-proof, either. I have the CDs right next to me – one hell of a game when it works.

    Got it to compile on FreeBSD without OpenGL-support. Runs fine.
