NVIDIA Linux Display Driver 1.0-7664
June 2nd, 2005 by CrusaderBuild 1.0-7664 of NVIDIA’s Linux graphics driver (readme) has been released for x86 and AMD64 architectures. Changes:
- Added OpenGL 2.0 Support.
- Added initial support for Xinerama + OpenGL; see APPENDIX V in the text README.
- Added support for the EXT_framebuffer_object OpenGL extension.
- Added NV-CONTROL support for manipulating DDC/CI settings; see the AllowDDCCI X config option in the text README.
- Added support for GPU clock manipulation; see the “Coolbits” X config option documented in Appendix D.
- Added support for NVIDIA Quadro G-Sync.
- Added support for GeForce 6200 AGP.
- Improved DPMS behavior on flatpanels.
- Removed support for legacy GPUs; please see “Chapter 1. Selecting and Downloading the NVIDIA Packages for Your System” in the README for details.
- Install NVIDIA OpenGL headers by default.
NVIDIA’s Christian Zander also notes that support for older GPUs is not being discontinued; there will be separate legacy releases for these cards.

Also take note there are driver releases for Solaris in both x86 and x86_64 flavors.

adding the EXT_framebuffer_object OpenGL extension just shows that nvidia is actively reading the X.org mailing list :)

I stuck with this crappy Ati driver that won’t suspend properly and freezes solid simple games like gish….. Where as my nvidia desktop downstairs runs every 3d app I throw at it perfectly

Gives me weird XID something messages when playing Doom3 which sometimes results in a black-screen (game is still running). These are the first drivers ever that don’t work on my hardware, I’m back to the last 6xxx release which works perfectly.
