The venerable Civilization-inspired open source strategy game Freeciv has reached version 2.0.0. There’s a lengthy changelog since the last stable release (1.14.2); there are also several tilesets you can download to customize the game’s appearance.

I would like to thank the freeciv dev crew. This is a very nice game. Time for a review Linuxgames?

Since beta 7 I think there’s been a bug with diplomatic meetings where each player sees different technology. Weird they haven’t spotted this one. I know I probably should use bugzilla or some method, but it’s so annoying to use those systems :-) Me hoping they figure it out. It is a great game.
