The only ati I have came with my laptop.

I must say that the fglrx drivers have improved significantly in the later releases. Since the last release it does not hardlock my laptop every 2-5 hours.

It’s still not perfect, but it’s getting better to the point that I no longer use the xorg drivers.

This new version sorts out doom3 weirdness and flightgear polygon flickering on my Radeon 9700 Pro.
So, now the quality is the same as nvidia. At least as far as everything working goes anyway.

Resuming from standby with DRI on still crashes the whole system.

A roadmap, and one that they’ll follow. It would help to know what fixes they’re looking at doing, what ones they’re not, and relatively when they’ll have them done.

This ATi driver versions sucks. They didnt fix the pagetable bug (kernels >2.6.11), didnt add damage support and Doom3 lows the fps in a 5%, and the UT2k4 in a 7% !!!
My next card.. Nvidia.

Does it work on 2.6.11 without patching? The older versions don’t, and frankly that sucks.

ALSO, i have to say, i had a nvidia 5900XT 128 (actually still do have) and i decided to push the little red button – that’s right, i went out and bought an ATI 9600 PRO just to see if their cards and drivers in linux suck. Got it for 130 CDN and i have to say, it works SWEET! For the price and the capacity of the card, it works really well. I mean, i hear people bitch and rant about how shitty ATI is with their drivers but then i notice they are trying to play Doom3 at 1024×768 with a 9200se. Like wtf do you expect?? All i am saying is i’m a changed man. I mean, the FX 5200 sucks ass hard and deep but nobody is giving nvidia a hard time. Acyually, it wasn’t until i bought the 5900XT that i could finally say that my vids work the way i want in linux. And that card wasn’t cheap when bought it. I say, Good on ya ATI. I now have a choice. Me like choice :–)
