Darwinia available for Linux
March 18th, 2005 by TimeDoctorIntroversion Software has released the Linux demo, and binaries to go with the retail Windows cd of their second indie game, Darwinia. I’ve tried the demo and it is fun, though it takes a bit of getting used to after wondering where the hacking is.

Well I won’t be playing it then… setup requires glibc 2.3 .. I’m using LFS, and I can only use glibc 2.2 (or else recompile every binary on my hard disk, ‘cos for some reason when I installed glibc 2.3, everything – even bash – sigfaulted.)
Oh well…

I really enjoyed this demo. I’ll defenitely be purchasing this game. The graphics are awesome and it has a very unique story and gameplay. I’m not a big fan of the mouse gestures. I could only get the airstrike to work 1 out of every 10 tries.
The game runs fine on my amd64 in gentoo, but to get the installer to work, I ran:
./darwinia-demo-1.1.2.sh –keep
cd darwinia/setup.data/bin/Linux/
mkdir amd64
cd amd64
ln -s ../x86/glibc-2.1 glibc-2.1
ln -s ../x86/glibc-2.1 glibc-2.1
cd ../../../../
./setup.sh
/Line72
