Roma-Victor Linux Port
February 10th, 2005 by CrusaderA reader forwarded this statement from Kerry Fraser-Robinson, president of Red Bedlam, concerning his company’s plans for a Linux port of Roma-Victor:
It’ll certainly be Windows-only at release but it’s always been our intention to provide linux and MacOS X clients as soon as we can.
Roma-Victor is a MMORPG set in second century AD Europe, and will focus on the Roman Empire and its barbarian enemies. Roma-Victor will also not feature a monthly fee to play, but will survive on an economic system based on converting real world currency to RV Sesterces used in the game.

This looks like it could be a Linux MMORPG that I’d really enjoy! I’ve tried getting into “A Tale in the Desert”, but really couldn’t stick with it. It seemed a bit too tedious for my tastes, though it is extremely innovative. I’ve been looking for a Linux MMORPG that could offer more traditional MMORPG traits in addition to many of those provided by ATITD, and this looks like it could be it.

Looks like a lot of fun… I wonder how well you can fare without paying though…

…of linking ingame economy to real-life economy.
Project Entropia was the first MMORPG with a business-model like that.
