There’s been a few updates at id.sdk, an official id Software site devoted toDOOM 3 moddevelopment. id’s BinaryCowboy linked the original DOOM 3 SDK Makefilethread @ Doom3World and mentionedthat their internal Linux build uses SCons:
A couple dozen people have asked me about getting the SDK to compile in Linux. We have an SCons file to build the code, but it has a lot of stuff for themain engine in there, which is why we didn’t release it with the SDK. Danteover on the Doom 3 World forums wrote up a make file that seems to do thetrick.
Presumably when a non-exe SDK package is released for Linux it’ll also utilizeSCons.
PlanetDOOM has added several new
multiplayer mapsand game-tweaking
mods totheir file section. They also pointed out that the
Classic DOOM team hasadded new development screenshots to their site; Classic DOOM is an effort torecreate the original DOOM’s levels in DOOM 3.
Finally, AMDZone posted a Linux DOOM 3 benchmarking article; however, the author uses the results to arrive at a dubious conclusion.

Just a heads up, probably won’t affect anyone but gentoo users in the near term (so far as i know), but the SDK won’t compile on gcc 3.4, only on 3.3
You’ll need to install that too if you plan to build any mods
