ATi 3.14.1 Linux Driver
September 30th, 2004 by zakkATi has released version 3.14.1 of their Linux driver (Release Notes, FAQ, installation guide, feedback form). Notably, this release adds acceleration for the All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500DV, FireGL V5100/3200/3100, the Mobility 9800, the integrated Mobility Radeon 9000/9100 IGP series, and the Radeon X600/300. It also fixes a variety of problems, including one with the VIA Apollo KT400 motherboards. See those relnotes for more. Thanks to a reader for letting us know about this release.

No 3D for the 9100 on my notebook. Unless I installed the drivers wrong. When I try run glxgears, it hangs. :(

Any success/disapointment reports on how good are the ATI drivers nowadays?
I remmeber trying to set them up for my litle brother but it seemed they where not reliable (hang the box/distiortion/etc)

So, these drivers dont work well enough for me to try a 9800 pro? I can buy one from a friend (he recently upgraded) for a descent price, but I was waiting to get a Nvidia 6600 GT this Christmas instead.
