Zborgerd let us know about the release of Red Orchestra 3.0 (that link also has the full changelog). Red Orchestra (screenshots) is an Unreal Tournament 2004 World War 2 Eastern Front modification. An installer for the Linux version is available. Note that this version of RO requires Unreal Tournament 2004 version 3270. the Linux version of which is still only available as a beta, without an AMD64 version, via this link. Fun stuff. This release is really polished. It’s well worth the price of UT2004 to play this mod.

Anyone know how to install the 3236 patch? I got he patch and the readme implies it will update files etc… But theres nothing to run. Looks like a crap load of data files in four folders. If I untar it, it goes into a folder called ut2004_patch, so I suspect I should not unpack it into ut2004. Anyone know how to install this thing?

I’m used to playing Urban Terror and I wish a lot of these games would try to emulate the hit location and also allow climbing up things more. The game seems okay, but just seems to lack some polish

Okay, I’ve downloaded RO 3 for Linux twice now, and it keeps on crashing on me when I run it. The file I’ve got twice now has a md5sum of

    1fc85b4efac55fb1da22cda2f4412706 RedOrchestra_v3.0-Linux.full.run

Does this match with installers from people who have successfully installed RO 3? All I get is:

    Verifying archive integrity… All good.
    Uncompressing Red Orchestra 3.0…………………………………………………………………………………………..Extraction failed.

I’m using Fedora Core 2, by the way.
