DoomWorld isreporting that both EBgames.com andGamestop are now showing an August 3rd release date for id Software’s upcoming horror-themed FPS DOOM III. Normally online retailer dates are pulled out of some sort of mystical top hat, but the simultaneous update (combined with the “officially confirmed” blurb at Gamestop) tend to lend credence to the idea that this is the date Activision is targeting right now.

Speaking of, today is also the eighth anniversary of Quake 1 shareware’s release; it’s scary to realize that many years have gone by already.
