As great as Sid Meier’s Pirates was, it was pale in comparison to Koei’s Uncharted Waters . In UW, not only you can trade and fight wars, you can invest in ports to exclude enemy empires, explore obscure rivers around the WORLD (not just Caribbean) to dig up rare treasure or complete the world map, a more detailed tactical combat, and it even include a quest mode (6 unique quests in UW2). Too bad the Uncharted Waters franchise ended in failure in the States, killing any chance of porting UW3 and 4.
