LGP To Release Northland

March 9th, 2004 by Alkini

LGP passed along this news of another project in the works:

Linux Game Publishing is pleased to announce that our partnership with Epic Interactive has now grown to include the Linux version of Northland. Porting work has been ongoing for some time, so we expect to be opening Beta applications soon. Please see our Press Release for details.

Epic Interactive are those who produced Knights & Merchants and Software Tycoon, two other titles currently in beta testing phases with LGP.

..ever complete any of these games they announced?

So far the only title worty in their stock feels like Majesty. Perhaps Mindrover is a worty title but its an old Loki title. Credz for pushing out software for the linux and of course everyone sees that there is some kind of joint thing with epic interactive. But will any of these titles be finished instead of just announced?

  2. Gore Says:

Not porting, publishing! Epic Interactive is PORTING (they aren’t the original developers of the games) the games (Northland, K&M, Software Tycoon, etc.) to Linux, and LGP is PUBLISHING the ports! Epic Interactive does self-publish their ports for some operating systems (like that Bad, Evil, and Dirty operating system that shall remain unnamed) but not for Linux.

For those that don’t know, this is actually a newer game, and it has been receiving some favorable reviews (for RTS fans) in spite of its niche status.

I know that I’ll be ordering mine. ;)

This is a question for LGP and Epic… Do you intend to include a level editor for the game? I noticed, on Funatics’ page, that a level editor is shown as a feature of the game.

Didn’t see PPC listed in the system requirements.

From the game description on LGPs website:
“…in which the sly god Loki will play an important role…”

    That doesn’t sound good *ggg*

Also I seen something on bluesnews.com about a mod for call of duty and it said it had a client and server. Does anyone know if the full game has a linux client???

    Here is what it said…..

“The Heat Of Battle Website now offers downloads of the Linux version of this teamplay modification for Call of Duty, Infinity Ward’s WW2 first-person shooter. The Linux version can be used to run a server or to play as a client. There is also a new Q&A with the HoB team on PlanetCallofDuty.”
