Neverwinter Nights 1.62
February 26th, 2004 by CrusaderVersion 1.62 of BioWare’s Dungeons and Dragons RPG Neverwinter Nights has been released. Changes (full list):
- multiplayer support for custom talk tables
- spell fixes
- exploit fixes
- Sea Hag creature

Just in case any of you are wondering – with the 2.6.x kernel, many people seem to be experiencing a very slow startup for NWN. It’s just a black screen for maybe 20 seconds (depending on your system), before the game starts or you see anything.
There’s been a bit of talk about this on the NWN forums, but no resolution yet. Kernel 2.4 seems to be normal.

Installed this sucker last night.
I’m playing with a couple of buddies and with this new patch the server started kicking us off every time I went to save the game.
Totally annoying.
Time to back it out!
And yes, the slowdowns started big time with 1.61. Takes freakin’ forever to start up nwn or load/join a game.

It feels faster with my shiny new Linux kernel 2.6.3 from debian and the current ATI drivers.
P4 1.8GHz
512MB DDR ram
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB
Debian unstable
