PR: Savage for $29.99 over the Holidays

   Tuxgames has no longer Savage in stock. Why ?
   Wan we have from Tuxgame Savage at the same price ?

   This is a bummer for me! haha.. I’m still waiting on my pre-order from Tuxgames and I’ve bought two copies of Savage as Christmas gifts (Yes, I’m a nerd) paying full price. Ah well, maybe next time. :P

   Good deal. If TuxGames doesn’t have it at this price (why wouldn’t they?) or not at all, then they’ll miss out.

   I saw someone mentioning it on S2′s forums and I just wanted to mention it here to be sure it’s clear. I’m the programmer at S2 who did the Linux port and maintained it. I have just left S2 and started working for Namco this week (today was my first day).

   First off, S2 is not in trouble, nor is the Linux port of Savage in trouble. Sam McGrath, the lead programmer at S2, is taking over the Linux port. I’m sure they’ll hit some bumps, but S2 will continue to support Linux fully.

   I’m still in contact with my friends at S2, and if they have any problems I’ll help guide them through it. But rest assured that the Linux commitment at S2 is stronger than just one programmer.

   The risk is that they will not be able to raise the price after the holidays, and that the number of users doesn’t go up substantially.

   The gain, though, is that Savage will reach critical mass; the retail version will have enough players that the ones currently playing the demo will feel left out…and switch to the retail version.
