The game looks nice, but it’s not happy with my debian unstable install of openal, downloaded openAL from cvs and put the .so file in the gamedir made the problem go away..
Anyway this game should feed my fraggin’ hunger for awhile :-)

I’m downloading it right now. Looks like I’ll be compiling OpenAL also (thanks Minze)!
[q]fantasy themed first person style action game that emphasises massive team combat on an epic scale[/q]
Yeah, gimme gimme … I want it!

If you got the latest Linux build, apparently it was taken off because it doesn’t show it available at http://www.realmwarsgame.com/downloads/ (currently). If anyone has it could you bittorrent it and post here please, unless there is a good reason they took it off. e.g.: it runs ‘rm -rf /’ when you are on top of a special mountian and fire north at 30 degrees up. (made that up, but that would be a freaking bad bug!)
thanks.

That’s why I put this up. I haven’t palyed RW much myself, and I’m not a member of their main team but I had CVS access and wanted other linux users to be able to look at RealmWars if they wanted. Again, download it at http://sweb.uky.edu/~bebark2/realmwars.html and NOT the realmwars site. This game is a work in progress, consider this a beta.

This game is frickin awesome, but I use a trackball, and used to play flight sims… in short, MUST HAVE INVERT MOUSE! It looks like someone already put in the request, so I guess I just wait now.

This game has potential! I would like to see 64 people on a server in 2 teams and duke it out with healers (heal/blind), mages (has currently) and fighters (has currently, then some classes in between.
oh! oh! Fliers that drop bombs. Have explode able arrows (when mouse is released) like flak cannon!
umm now your going to tell me if I want it, to add it myself… well the game is good now, just spent 3 hours playing(with no crashes or bugs, though I couldn’t use sound in Debian Testing but I know how to fix from another post). Wish there were more players, but 1 on 1 is fun, *hop*,*shoot*,*hop*,*shoot*,*ugg*. With 6 players this game plays great over 56k! I was quite surprised.
What is the limit (server) of players per server and what type connection would it need to run a ‘big’ server?
*visualizes 15 fighters, 9 archers, 4 mages, and 3 healers per team running down into a valley shooting and swinging at each other.*

Here’s a handy tip. If you want to know what a file is, run it through the file command;
[q]file *.doc
first.doc ASCII English text
second.doc Microsoft Office Document
third.doc PDF document, version 1.3
forth.doc Zip archive data, at least v2.0 to extract[/q]
Never judge a file by it’s extention.

It seems to be needing to link to libstdc++.so.5, which I don’t have. Any chance for a static build? The screenshots look pretty cool.

This thing SUCKS.. majorly..
they introduced NEW bugs in there to things that worked fine in the previous release of RW AND in the original tribes 2 game.. and the terrain quality is HORRID..
This is NO show of the quality of this game engine..
