I have a pretty heavy collection of Window games. I use 98 every once in a while. I've decided to go with linux exclusivly recently. (love stability) Tried WineX 3.0. Got games to install but they just didn't run. Even old Masters of Orion 2 would try to kick on but it kicked off just as quick. I figured that I'd leave the Win and Lin games seperate in hope that they will develope some good linux games in the future. For Linux all I have is Heavy Gear 2 and I think, for what its worth, Linux games kick butt. Too bad the rest of the commercial world doesn't think so, else we would have Diablo 2 for linux. And honestly, which is better, stable, quick, custom kernel linux games or windows code bloated games. I personally like the idea of linux taking over!

I think we should upgrade Wine's PR department (the LGPLed Wine tree, not the WineX one) as we can also run some games now, maybe not as fast as WineX, but it's free and Free :-)

And I am the only one tinking that saying Wine / WineX is killing native Linux gaming is somewhat naive ?

I thought I would try to download the latest CVS code, but I keep getting this when I try to login:

cvs [login aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks

Nobody has trollen about how bad winex is for linuxgaming, so I might as well make an preemptive post ;)
When you _buy_ winex you have the option to vote. Here you can vote all new games down and vote that they should focus on old games and old directx technology.
This way nobody gets hurt. The gamecompanies still have to release native to support linux, and the old unsupported games will get supported - giving and edge compared to Windows.
But ofcause if they get enough subscribers they will go GPL, which is also nice.

Now you know that you can change the direction for winex, go vote.
