June 14th, 2003 by AlkiniHope all of you are having a good weekend; if you have any plans to do any professional fishing, I hope you’re being especially careful.
First, some Quake-related news:
- Quake3 running on XDirectFB with hardware accelerated DirectFBGL (
screenshot) — thanks -Dell’Aiera Pol- - Reality Interactive wrote in to announce that the have “released a non-playable technology preview of a full-featured,OpenGL-based game implemented entirely in Java.| The interesting thingis, it runs full screen at 60+ fps on modern hardware, and is nativelycross-platform. The demo includes both a Windows and a Linux version outof the box, and runs a Quake-compatible game demo. “

I tried to use bittorent for downloading the Reality Engine. I downloaded it with full speed, but I never uploaded a single byte.
I really want’s to contribute, but there really isn’t any incentive when you are not uploading.

Poll Question:
Do you want the software for the system downloaded or distributed as hard copies.
- Yes
- No
- Maybe
- I’m not so sure!
It’s not a YES or NO question!!

I’m so happy they turned off the hostname lookup in XQF. I’d almost always forget to do that and it was terribly annoying. What’s worse is that with the last version I couldn’t get it to stop even when I tried.
This is a huge relief.
