i used this distro for ages , its excellent. However maya doesnt run on it :( I switched to redhat 8.0 -- it pissed me off so bad (although maya did run) that i went to debian 3.01
but my nforce2 mobo isnt supported (cant even compile the drivers) -- tried for ages to get it working , no joy
Im going to wait for all the new distros to emerge (suse 8.2, RH 8.1 Mandrake 9.1 and the new slackware ) With XF864.3 and gnome 2.2 preconfigured saving me hours of work ..

Frozen buble is quite easy to build and run, which reminds me to make a SuSE rpm for it. Although that RPM should work on other distro's, as long as they aren't ancient :).

Of course other issue is time...

Sorry, missed this as been trying to get Majesty demo downloaded...

Been using SuSE on my desktop for lord knows how long. Other distro's have been fun...But not quite the right flavor for me :).

Might want to bug people on the SuSE mailing list...

Since RedHat has decided not to include FVWM in RH8, I'm thinking about switching distributions (yes, I know I can install it myself. But that's not the point. Dumping FVWM is inexcusable). I've tried Mandrake and didn't care for it much. I'm long beyond being willing to futz around with my Linux box to tweak things - I just want things to work. I'd be interested in hearing what's good and/or frustrating about SuSE.

Why not use gentoo? Having your O/S tailored 100% to how YOU want it installed may be more worth it than doing what SuSeE's pre done RPMs say. Just an opinion : D

I have recently (about a month) have switched to SuSE 8.1 and have been enjoying it greatly. It is on my main desktop/gaming box, and have had few hassles with it (much less than I did with Mandrake and RH). Only problem I ran into so far was with upgrading to X 4.3 and some messed up fonts, but found a fix pretty quickly (and I believe it was even noted in the Readme, tisk on me.
