Neverwinter Nights Client Update
January 26th, 2003 by MarvThe weekly update to the Neverwinter Nights Client page has occured with the following news for us.
We are now into the rather boring stretch at the end of game development. We are currently running through the loop of: find bug, fix bug, make new build, test. Rinse and repeat. Unfortunately, this is also the longest part of development and the most uncertain. It is even harder now to give you a date on the Client Beta.

How can it be -harder- to give a release date now? It’s not like they -didn’t- have to go through this phase earlier, and now they should at least have a better idea of what bugs there are.
Oh well. Don’t really care; it comes out if/when it comes out, and then I’ll care.

can’t we have an alpha version and have linux users report bugs instead ?

Well, I hope they won’t have too much problems finding bugs, and have a nice and BIG testing crew ;)
And to reply to cburke:
Yes, it is HARDER. why? simple. bugs are
unforeseen problems in the code. that’s what makes
it hard. if they knew the problems in the code,
they would have fixed it. For now, they have no
idea how many are in there, and what the bug
actually is, or how to fix them.
There will always be bugs in code, and finding
them all is impossible, but they do have to get
as many of them out as possible, so the game will
be playable and stable enough to enjoy.
I know I for one will be awaiting the release with
impatience though….I can’t wait till I can run
it under linux, since I really do not want to have
to reboot into windows just to play nwn (which is
all I do under windows now, other than c#)

i can see if the linux community doesn’t support a client for this, why would bioware consider a linux client for their next project probably already in development?

Never Winter Nights is like crack. It’s ruining my life.
When it runs in Linux, I will be the happiest junkie alive.
