O’Reilly has posted an articletitled Return of the Independent Game Developer?. It covers Garage Games and their Torque engine, the Independent Game Developers Conference,the problem of combining open-source development and gaming, and mentions theCrystal Space, WorldForge, and Cube 3Dprojects. The article also adresses the issues involved in deciding which engineto use in a new indie game — a home-rolled one, a modified open-source one, or alicensed commercial one.
