    I was right again.

Simms- You need to try a little harder. ;)

I’ve obviously been asleep under a stone for a while because I’d not seen either of these before. However, the screenshots look encouraging and Bandits looks particularly promising, especially if you can do insane stunts in those buggies :-)

I think these are great looking games. I just would like to try out a demo first to see if it is something I’ll buy.

I played the Windows Demo of Bandits three months ago and from my first impressions i didn’t like it.
Controlling the car with the mouse and cursor keys was terrible and the game itself was not very interesting.
And the reason why the developers have choosen a post apocalyptic world for that game was probably because that way they could increase the selling rates of the game a little more (people should think it is a little like being in a Mad Max movie).
But this apocalyptic world environment looks more like an unimportant inclosure.
They could have also used just a normal futuristic world with cars and guns, IMHO the game is nothing really special.
Or in other words there are better games with a similar topic (cars and guns) in the PC gaming world available (but not for linux :( ).

I don’t know anything about Ballistics so i can’t say something about it.

    “…cars with big guns! ”
mmmm, big guns… *drools like Homer Simpson*

Looking at the screenshots, if this game is 1/2 the fun it looks like I am willing to pay my $50… just wish I had time to play games.
Good choice LGP, I only hope it was based on OpenGL and is easy to port so it is not costly and old when it is done.

Unlike most ports, Bandits isn’t brand-spankn’ new — it’s unreleased! Demo? Yes, but no final version even for Windows.

    That’s a good thing…

One thing that would be really nice to see in PC-platform games would be multi-joystick, split screen capability like the game platforms (PS2, XBox) have. I’ve got my computer hooked up to a high-def TV, and use it mostly for email, web, MP3, and some games…but they’re all single player.

These two games look like platform games, so it would be really cool to be able to play them like platform games on a PC.

I bought all the loki games just to support the company. Guess I should do the same for these guys. However, I will NEVER support WineX its the anti-christ. :)

the games look very cool, and they’re from a swedish company too.. :P extremely awesome, thanks lgp!

Awesome! Two new Linux games that remind me of some of my favorite PlayStation games! :^)
Now if only someone would convince Namco to release Tekken for “PC”s and then get it ported. ;^)

I’m downloading the demos…(win32 junk versions)
hummm… sometimes the same game on different plataforms have some little bonuses like a secret map or whatever… why not ad a little something to the linux version?
ewww… wait, it has already, it will run in a kick ass OS. hehe
    anyway, lets see.

  13. Anonymous Says:

It would take a lot to convince to pay £25 (40 USD) for Ballistics when the Win32 version only costs £5. Charging 400% more is taking the p1ss a bit.

  14. Anonymous Says:

is to support those who do! .. linux games cost more! live with it!

And I have a feeling Bandit’s isn’t exactly going to burn up the sales charts on the other platform. I’d be suprised if either of these titles sold as well on Windows as they will likely do on Linux (ie. a few thousand copies sold). Thanks but I’ll stick with Pontifex II.

Ballistics [82%] “A new benchmark for the future racing sub-genre”

Bandits: Phoenix Rising [35%] “Like a mouthful of desert sand”

I’ll be happy to purchase Ballistics as I haven’t played it at all yet. I would have to question though allocating development resources to a 35%’er.

Bandits RULEZ!! Wow, vroom vroom, blow crap up! ROCK ON! I dunno, Im not much into racing games, but driving around in post apocalyptic (if sadly, well, brown) environments is like, sooooooooooooo cool! Finally, some tank-ish type game for Linux that kicks some a$$! I will be the first to admit, some people might have trouble with the controls the first, second, maybe even 10th time into the game, but once you get the hang of it, its pure joy! Crank up the mouse speed, nuke the jammin tunes, listen to the freaky scottish dude, and blow some bad guys up! WOOHOOO!! Absolutely the most fun I have had playing a game in a long while! 8) 8) 8)

    (cheers lgp on!)

Macintosh porting houses should port the games (they are porting from windows to Mac) to linux too.

This way we could have more games for Linux.

And the Mac Porting houses would have a larger market.
And because MacOS X is Unix like and so very similar to linux porting a game also to linux shouldn’t be too expensive.

OpenGL is also available on both platforms.

    So what do you think?
IMHO we should ask those Mac companies.

I was just reading on Slashdot about the last Alpha (EV7) line they are making and in an attempt to ask the question befor the ‘Alpha Troll’:

Will this game be ported to the Alpha EV7?
If so I think a price increase of %40 on the game over the x86 Win price is just TO much when I spend $10k+ on the system!

    *grin*
*THIS POST IS A TOTAL JOAK!!!*
This is a total laugh and do NOT actually expect an Alpha port(good CPU though). If you do not find it funny, sorry. Anyone who still takes this serious by now should… get help somewhere! :-)

I’ve heard of Ballistics, but not Bandits. I suppose that’s alright, but it’s not really making me run out and buy them.
