FooBillard 2.3
January 8th, 2003 by keerfVersion 2.3 of the OpenGL billiards game FooBillard has been released. Changes and or fixes for this release include:
- bugfix: bumpref_list was not generated
- fix: cueball could be placed all the time
- new more complete snooker code (thx to Frank Gevaerts)
- sound compatibility fix for big endian machines (thx to Frank Gevaerts)
- table socket and floor
- black ground of holes (no floor see through)
- bugfix for some voodoo drivers (player text and menu didnt show up)
- pool rules fix: no foul when hitting cushion outside the foul-region before ball in the foul-region
- pool rules fix: no foul at break when potting other balltype than 1st hit
- 3D-font rendering for text objects
- 3D winner text
- some debug message cleanup

The upgrades keep coming thick and fast!
Anyway – cool to see the pool rules getting a fix-up. That means my special top-left spin break shot should now be a valid way to break and pot a ball :-).
Now all we need is jump shots :-)

At last, playing Snooker has become fun too thanks to the improved code. Thank you guys!
Still a few problems left, e.g.: AI erroneously puts brown & pink in one shot and I only get 4 points in return (instead of 5). It’s also unclear to me how to position the cue ball (though this might be an interferance with a Metacity shortcut), this used to be [Alt]+[Left M.] IIRC?
