CHARIOTS™: THE FIRST OLYMPICSIt is 776 BC. The age of the first Olympics in Ancient Greece. The Greek city states of Athens, Sparta, Macedonia, Elis, Crete, Troy, Thebes and Carthage have gathered at Olympia.
It is the last day of the historic event. The five full days of frenetic athletic activities are coming to an end. But the pinnacle of all the Olympic events is yet to commence. As one of the privileged competitors, the expectations of thousands rest on your shoulders…
- Choose from among eight different charioteers, both men and women, each with their own unique abilities
- Eight different chariot models with different handling characteristics
- Race through the countryside of the ancient Hellenic world. Race tracks which plunge from soaring snowbound mountains to verdant Grecian meadows and meander through undulating deserts.

The graphics look good,and the gameplay sounds unique.They even have a spot just for linux on there fourms.

I’d like to see some road rash style gameplay in this, where you can hit your oppenents with a whip and knock them off their chariots : )

The images seem created with a 3d program no rendered real time in a game engine…

They may be using Dynamic Pixel Volume EAX T&L Specular LOD Shaders(tm) but those screenshots look like complete poo.
Just goes to show, an engine is nothing without half-decent artwork behind it…

I find it amusing that someone has exerted so much effort in building a “chariot racing” gaming ;). However, I would buy it if it had interesting fighting involved in the race (even mario kart has fighting, right .. so no big deal). I may even buy it if it doesn’t have fighting, because, hey it is a chariot racing game ;) (besides, what other games am I gonna buy for Linux?)
BTW, you may as well port it to FreeBSD as well, so it will be the first commercial game to have a native FreeBSD port :).
