NeverWinter Nights update

September 29th, 2002 by Marv

DaNutBall sent in word pointing out the that Bioware has updated their NeverWinter Night Linux client port page

We’re continuing to work on the soundcode (we’re using OpenAL). Currently, all the soundsare playing (with the exception of streaming sounds),but there are still a few issues with them, such asthe positioning of the 3D sounds not working quiteright as they don’t seem to be fading/panningproperly. Support for playing streaming sounds will bethe next thing to be added in.

Just like they said. Things are starting to look up. Maybe soon I’ll be living both my D&D geek and video game geek fantasies -simultaneously-. :D

It’s a shame that the game is obsolete when it finally arrives. Let’s hope that they will allow the developers to release a few patches after it is released, as we can expect it to be fairly buggy.

Since I fixed the rotation code in OpenAL and rewrote the bit that did the fading/panning between speakers recently I hope that none of their problems lie with my code.

Does anyone know if I’ll be able to use my saved games from windows once they release the linux client?
