Missed this one a few weeks ago. Version 25026 of Tribes 2 was released, bringing it up to speed with the Win32 client. This is Sam Lantinga’s port of the new updates to the client.

Go Sam! Thanks for the hard work. I know your schedule must be packed but it’s nice to know you haven’t left behind the lowly Linux gamers! ;)

Why not just run it in WINE?

For anyone with problems, I found that this patch would not update my 25005/8 beta version. But after reinstalling and auto-updating, the patch installed perfectly. CU Online.

Obviously I’m thrilled that the patch is released, I was dreading having to buy the windows tribes2 and reboot everytime I want some fun.
However, I installed the patch and there really don’t seem to be, well, any servers running it. Is it just me or has the equivalent windows patch not left beta yet?
Sam, how’s about some backwards patches? Re-installing from scratch is a pita :)

    Thanks Sam!!!

Yay i thought they’d given up on linux tribes2. Just 1 problem, in the editor there is a new mission button which doesn’t work because there is a file missing. Why?

One question though guys… if you check out the text file that comes with the patch, it lists EAX and EAX2… does Linux have ANY support for EAX at all????? If it does, please point me to the drivers involved to get that support. I am using an Audigy.

Hey guys, this is a BETA patch, and you will not be able to upgrade it to the final version. That said… enjoy. :)

    Please, Sam.

I do my gaming on my 164UX Alpha 633. Bintrans is slow somtimes. Is it too difficult to cross-compile the Tribes2 source for the Alpha? If OK with you, I’ll let you SSH to my computer over my Earthlink DSL connection so you can use my GCC or DEC compiler. What’dya say, friend? ;)
