TORCS 1.1.0

Version 1.1.0 of the 3D racing sim TORCS (screenshots) has been released; changes include:

  • lights, smoke and skid marks
  • enhanced shadows
  • new aerodynamics model for the ground effect
  • support of game-pads and mouse to drive the cars
  • new track format allowing kerbs and side walls
  • new cars
  • bugfixes

    Turn on the anti-aliasing before you take screenshots next time, guys… they’re almost painful to look at, they’re so aliased.

    why all linux opensource game looks like tron,bzflag ?
    and the cars on this game run way too fast.
    they need to work a lot on the physics….
    it doesnt realy matters if the cars looks like crap, that can be fixed later, just hope that they make it play Gran Turismo :)

    I think the graphics could use some improvement (smoke drops framerates to 5fps) but overall the best driving game I have seen for Linux. And I think the physics are pretty good, now if we could just turn on the arcade mode… Simulation driving games suck with a gamepad, the mouse control is incomprehensible for me, thus really takes out any fun level there is for me. Cars seem to spin and slide just way too easy. Oh well, excellent overall effort though.
